Steve Bruce Interviews For Wolves Manager Job Today

Bruce had compiled a 'survival dossier' to secure an interview with owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey and it has at least won him an interview. Still odds-on bookies favourite Alan Curbishley interviewed for the job on Thursday and it is understood gave a mighty impression for how he would keep the struggling midlands side in the Premier League this term and he remains ahead in the race to replace Mick McCarthy. Curbishley hasn't managed a team in three and a half years, and it is his time away from the game after a difficult spell at West Ham United that has probably got the owners interested as he hasn't failed as a manager as recently as the other candidates. Curbishley previously kept Charlton Athletic in the Premier League for years despite little resources, a feat made even more miraculous when he was the one who got them there to begin with. Bruce meanwhile has the difficult case to answer for that he was sending Sunderland down the wrong way in 2011 and he bailed on Wigan at the first opportunity a bigger job came available. The Wolves owner is hoping to appoint a new manager soon so he has plenty of time to prepare for the trip to Newcastle on February 25th, a tricky tie to kick-start their survival campaign.
