The Serbian sruggled as the lone striker. His usually excellent hold-up play was rarely on show as the conditions played a huge part in the Serbians inability to control the ball. A tame header in the first half his only half chance on goal. Replaced by Ayoze Perez in the 84th minute.

The pair were thrown into the game on the 84-minute mark in an attempt to claw back the one-goal deficit, but failed to add a real spark to a lifeless Newcastle. Doumbia nearly claimed his first Magpies goal, but was foiled by a fabulous save by Jack Butland.
