2. Two Great Managers
Dont say this too loudly around QPR and Newcastle fans but this game pits, probably, the two best British managers in the game right now against each other. At the very least, there are no higher placed Premier League managers than these two. Both managers have had their struggles in the past with some poor results and questionable pitch side antics that neither would be proud of but both managers are now entering a new stage in their managerial careers, where they are seen, almost, as elder statesmen and both seem to be thriving. Fans and pundits will always have their opinions on managers but its telling that Hughes has been able to persuade players of the calibre of Xherdan Shaqiri and Bojan to move to the Brittania while Pardew managed to persuade Yohan Cabaye to swap Paris with Selhurst Park. Had Pardew been as bad as fans of his previous clubs believed then would Cabaye have really accepted playing for him for a second time?
