10. Jan Kirchhoff (Sunderland)
It's not every day that relegation strugglers are
heavily linked with Bayern Munich centre backs. Jan Kirchhoff hasn't had much luck at the Allianz Arena, but he clearly had enough talent to persuade Pep Guardiola into signing him on a
free transfer in 2013. He's a towering presence at 6'5" while he's also quick for a centre back, and calm on the ball. What's not to like? The 26-year-old impressed for Mainz early in his career but only made 7 league appearances for Bayern during his few seasons at the Bundesliga giants' with a loan spell at Schalke and long-term injury playing a part in his lack of game time under Guardiola. Sunderland are
reportedly very close to signing Kirchhoff for a minimal fee, and while he may not have cut it on the very highest stage, that doesn't mean he'll flop in the North East of England.
