Stanislav 'Stan' Varga returned for his second spell at the Stadium of Light in 2006, acting as cover for fellow centre backs Nyron Nosworthy and the next man on this list. He was released at the end of the club's first season back in the Premier League, having spent much of that campaign on loan at Burnley. He was released in 2008, retired, and currently manages Tatran Presov in the top flight of Slovakian football.
