Sunderland's 2006/07 Promotion Squad - Where Are They Now?
Substitute - Ben Alnwick
Local lad Alnwick was a promising young goalkeeper before Roy Keane's arrival at the Stadium of Light, but quickly found himself dropped in favour of Darren Ward. He was then granted a lucrative move to transfer in the January transfer window, but made only a solitary league appearance for Spurs in his five years on the bench there. The majority of Alnwick's time at White Hart Lane was spent on loan at clubs such as Leicester, Luton, Norwich and Leeds, but he eventually secured a permanent transfer away to Barnsley. Again he struggled to earn the number one jersey, and found similarly little luck at Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient. Finally, in 2014, he signed with League 1's Peterborough, and has made 41 appearances since.
