Sunderland's 2006/07 Promotion Squad - Where Are They Now?

Substitute - Steven Caldwell

Caldwell was something of a casualty of Sunderland's promotion campaign, his season hindered by injury. He was signed by Burnley at the end of the season and went on to eventually become their club captain, helping the Clarets to the Premier League via a playoff final victory over Sheffield United in 2009. Spells at Wigan and Birmingham followed, before Caldwell found himself unexpectedly uprooted in a trans-Atlantic deal to MLS team Toronto FC. The Scotsman went on to become captain there too, and was voted the Fans' Player of 2013. He retired this summer.
