Sunderland's 2006/07 Promotion Squad - Where Are They Now?

RM - Carlos Edwards

Edwards scored the goal that sealed Sunderland's automatic promotion, an outrageous thunderbolt of a strike to defeat Burnley, but saw his first season in the Premier League cut short by injury. He made only 13 appearances in the 2007/08 campaign, but came back stronger the following year to play in 22 games. New boss Steve Bruce signed several players to replace the Trinidadian, eventually sending him to Ipswich Town alongside Grant Leadbitter. Edwards became a mainstay at Portman Road, and was eventually made club captain. He moved to Millwall after five well-received seasons, but was released by the Lions at the end of last season. Now 36, it may be necessary for Carlos to find playing time in a lower division.
