Sunderland's Best XI Of The Decade (So Far)

CM. Jordan Henderson

Sunderland's brightest academy prospect for countless years, Henderson has gone on to prove himself as the Anfield successor to Steven Gerrard. The signs were always there for fans at the Stadium of Light. The hometown boy consistently played with a maturity and confidence far beyond his years, dictating play in the middle and charging back to defend with equal aplomb. It's no surprise to see him feature so regularly for England these days. Best Moment: Although never the most prolific of goalscorers from midfield, Henderson's best performance remains his two-goal display in a highly-entertaining 4-2 win over Wigan Athletic. The local boy bagged his brace to snap a disheartening run of nine league games without a defeat, helping Sunderland to an eventual 10th place finish in the 2010/11 Premier League season.
