Super Bowl 2013 Preview: San Francisco 49ers v Baltimore Ravens

Date: February 3rd, 2013 Kick-Off: 6:30pm ET Venue: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans. National Anthem: Alicia Keys Half-Time show: Beyonce and Destiny's Child Referee: Jerome Boger UK TV: BBC and Sky Sports In just a few short days the curtain will come up on the biggest event on the NFL calendar as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens in Superbowl XLVII. It all comes down to the next few days of preparation, as the players navigate a squall of media activity while trying to keep their minds on the biggest game some of them will ever play. The big story of the game, and that which has eaten up the most column inches so far is the clash of the Harbaugh brothers, as the two coaches face each other on NFL's biggest stage.Younger brother Jim will lead out the 49ers to face John's Baltimore Ravens, marking only the second time they have faced one another. Each has his own claim to fame - John Harbaugh has won a playoff game in every one of his first four NFL seasons, while his brother can boast a record of 27-8-1 for his first two years with the 49ers, as well as the tiel of coach of the year for 2011. This year marks the first Super Bowl Appearance for the Ravens since way back in 2000 when they scalped the New York Giants for their first big win, though this year's rise to the top game has been nothing short of miraculous in comparison. Hampered by injuries, and forced to sack offensive coordinator Cam Cameron back in December, the Ravens were also faced with a daunting passage to the Super Bowl, but they overcame the odds and their struggles earlier in the season to prevail and set up a fraternal clash with the 49ers. Given the context, the smart money might say to bet on San Francisco 49ers - they have the history, with a total of five Super Bowl wins under their belts, even despite not making a Super Bowl in nearly 20 years. They have been revived by coach Jim Harbaugh who almost lead them to the Super Bowl last year, and you get the sense that it might well be San Francisco's year this time out.
