Super Bowl LIV Full Preview And Prediction

3. Who Has The Edge On Offense In Super Bowl LIV?

With two incredibly strong teams going head-to-head in the Super Bowl, its going to be a close battle on both sides of the ball this year.

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers each have explosive offenses in their own ways. The Chiefs have one of the best collections of offensive weapons in the NFL with two pro bowl pass-catchers and the reigning MVP at quarterback, so it's no surprise that they ranked in the top 10 in total yards, yards per play, and points scored this season. The only problem is that the Niners do as well, and actually outrank the Chiefs in several key offensive metrics as well

The 49ers run game was arguably the second best in the league this year behind the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs defense is going to have to duplicate its effort containing Derrick Henry in the AFC Championship game to have any shot at slowing down that potent ground game.

Still, that rushing attack has come with its drawbacks, chief among them the continued questions that still surround Jimmy Garoppolo. Some believe the Niners QB hasn't had to put the team on his back enough this postseason, an odd complaint but one that isn't entirely without merit. Considering how swiftly the Chiefs can put points on the board, it may behoove the 49ers to rely on their passing game more during the Super Bowl. How Garoppolo responds to that pressure in such a high stakes game will surely be critical to the team's success.

At the same time, no matter how good Garoppolo does, the fact of the matter remains that he's just not Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes might be the best eraser in the league right now. No matter how far his team seems to fall or how many mistakes they make, it never feels like they're truly out of it when Mahomes takes the field.

That alone frankly gives the Chiefs the edge on offense, even if both teams are more than capable of running up the scoreboard.
