Swansea City v Reading - Match Preview

Venue: Liberty Stadium Kick-Off: 3pm After a spectacular start to the season, Michael Laudrup's tenure as Swansea manager has suddenly screeched to a halt with three straight defeats, although the Swans currently find themselves mid-table. It is games like this that Swansea need to win to put their slump behind them. Reading's start to the season has been what many pundits predicted - poor. Two draws either side of three straight defeats see the Royals sitting 19th in the league, and that is only courtesy of goal difference ahead of QPR. Last weeks draw at home to Newcastle was encouraging, but much improvement is needed if they are going to survive their first season back in the big time. Two points from 15 available is worrying form for any team looking to avoid a relegation battle.

Team News

Swansea have a doubt over captain Ashley Williams who may miss out due to illness, with either Garry Monk or Alan Tate likely to step in for Williams if he misses out, while Kemy Agustien (calf), Bartley (thigh), and Neil Taylor (ankle) are all out. The game will mark Leon Britton's 400th appearance for the club if he plays a part. Reading manager Brian McDermott only has Adam Federici unavailable, though there is some doubt regarding the fitness of Mikele Leigertwood after a dead leg suffered in last weeks impressive draw against Newcastle at the Madejski.

Likely Line-Ups

Swansea (4-2-3-1): Vorm; Rangel, Chico, Tate, Davies; Hernandez, Ki; Michu, Britton, Dyer; Graham. Reading (4-4-2): McCarthy; Cummings, Gorkss, Mariappa, Shorey; Kébé, Karacan, Leigertwood, McAnuff; Hunt, Pogrebnyak. Referee: Mike Dean Prediction: 3-3 Swansea's defence looks frail at the moment, especially since the loss of Neil Taylor for the rest of the season with a broken ankle. Yet the same can be said for Reading, and this game could be a game for the neutrals.
