Swansea Transfer News: Pablo Hernandez To Join From Valencia?

Swansea's pursuit of Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez looks to be reaching its final stages with just two days left before the end of the transfer window.

According to the Daily Mirror, a third bid from Swansea was submitted to Valencia for £5.5m, an offer which if accepted would equal the club record spent earlier this week on South Korean international Ki Sung-Yueng, which was enough for president Manuel Llorente to accept.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup had worked with Hernandez in the past, during his tenure at Getafe, and has been very keen to link up with the Spanish international again at Swansea.

It was under Laudrup's guidance that the winger re-ignited interest from Valencia just one year after the club let him go. After re-signing at the Mestalla, Hernandez went on to earn 4 caps for Spain and net one goal for the current World Champions.

Since the dismissal of Unai Emery as manager at Valencia, Hernandez has found it hard to earn his place in the starting XI. Despite having a personal best of 10 assists and 44 appearances last season, Sofiane Feghouli has been preferred in his position by new manager Mauricio Pellegrino.

Hernandez will join the South Wales team with plenty of competition for a starting spot however rumours of a revised offer from Manchester City for Scott Sinclair, as reported by the Daily Mail, could see the Spaniard easily cement a starting position alongside Nathan Dyer on the wing.
