Swansea Transfer News: Wilfried Bony Move In Doubt?

Guardian. Bony, who scored an astonishing 31 goals in 32 appearances in the Dutch topflight last season to finish the campaign as the Netherland's top goalscorer, has previously spoken of his excitement of joining Swansea in a £10.2 million deal, which would smash the Welsh club's transfer record - currently the £5.55 million paid for Pablo Hernandez last summer. Despite claims yesterday that a deal has been agreed with Vitesse for the Ivorian's services for ‚12million (£10.2million), sources at the Dutch club said on Thursday night that an agreement was some way off. Added to that, the Swans are far from alone in their pursuit of the 24-year-old striker. Premier League rivals Newcastle United have expressed an interest, as too have Chelsea, who could have the upper hand in the race for his signature due to the close relationship between Roman Abramovich and Vitesse owner and Georgian counterpart Merab Jordania. Now that the Blues have signed Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen however, along with the continued presence of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, it is thought Bony may well be swayed by the chance of playing more regular football at the Liberty Stadium instead. Bony said of his proposed move to Swansea:

"The clubs are now talking. Swansea is a wonderful club that plays attractive football. It's my chance to play in the Premier League. I understand from my agent Swansea have ‚12 million. That's the amount Vitesse wants. I hope there is some good news soon."
