The Most Expensive World Footballer XI Of All Time

5. Centre Midfield: Rodri - £62.8 Million

Just one year after joining Atletico Madrid, youngster Rodri signed for Manchester City in a deal worth £62.8 million. At just 23 years old it is certainly looking like he was bought to Manchester with the future in mind.

Exactly one month after signing on the dotted line, Rodri appeared in his first competitive Man City match, starting in midfield, helping his team claim victory against Liverpool in the Community Shield.

Since it is so early in his career, it is hard to know exactly what kind of player Rodri will evolve into, but as far as comparisons go he plays a very similar role to teammate Fernandinho. While it is likely Guardiola will be hoping the youngster can learn a thing or two for the future from the older, more experienced Fernandinho, Rodri will still have a role to play this season.

Last year City had a genuine chance to win four trophies, and if they want to challenge for this unprecedented achievement again this season they will need to make use of every single player. The sheer amount of games alone should guarantee the newest Citizen at least some game time.
