Tito Ortiz Talks CM Punk, Plans To Retire In A Year

Talked to TMZ about the UFC's big signing.

Tito Ortiz, former UFC Light heavyweight champion and current Bellator MMA star, has added his two cents to the CM Punk signing. Speaking to TMZ, Ortiz first said "congratulations" to Punk on the signing, then added
They're both making money. It's great for them. They got Brock Lesnar, why not him?
When asked about whether he thought Punk had skill, or if he was just there to sell tickets, Ortiz suggested that it all came down to whether or not Punk was willing to be punched in the face. The underlying statement was that if Punk can't take a punch, he'll probably be one and done in the UFC. That said, he'll definitely sell tickets. As to his own career - Ortiz is coming off a win three weeks ago over Stephan Bonnar as part of Bellator's biggest, highest rated show of the year - Ortiz said his eyes are on the Bellator light heavyweight championship. His plan, he said, is to win the belt, defend the belt, and retire as champ, though he would likely stay in the MMA business in some regard. Although it seemed unlikely just a year ago, there's a chance that Tito Ortiz could actually end his career on a high, challenging for the title in a major promotion. It's not the perfect ending, given the frequent feuding with the UFC and Dana White, but it's more than anything we expected at this point.
