Tom Brady: 5 Possible Destinations & 5 Possible Replacements
6. Replacement: Jarrett Stidham
Look, New England drafted him for a reason. He was a solid two year starter at Auburn University. Remember that Belichick also drafted Brady, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Jacoby Brissett in later rounds and they all managed to be solid starters. However, we do have to bring up the major miss in drafting Ryan Mallett too. The New England faithful will need to believe that Belichick is all set to turn Stidham into 'Jimmy G' 2.0. The major question is if he's truly ready to take over as a full-time starter from Brady. We don't have much to go on as he only completed two passes as a rookie... and yes, an interception.
No one should expect too much from the 4th rounder. So if Stidham is the only quarterback on the Patriots' roster going into the offseason, expect Belichick to bring in a rookie QB for competition or delve into free agency. There will be plenty of less than stellar (but at least capable) quarterbacks available. Patriots fans would be seeing the scariest QB room they've had in decades if the seats are filled with the likes of Dalton, Rosen, or Keenum.
