Tottenham Lead Race To Sign Spanish Forward

Spurs plan to hijack Chelsea's bid for Jose Callejon.

Tottenham are leading the race to sign the highly rated forward, Jose Callejon from Napoli, according to the Express. The North London side have edged in front of Chelsea in their pursuit of the Spanish attacker despite Jose Mourinho having expressed a keen interest in the 28-year-old all summer. The blues boss is said to be fuming and will now have to compete with Mauricio Pochettino in signing one of his main targets. The winger has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer after another impressive season in Italy. He scored 11 goals and grabbed three assists in 38 appearances last season but Napoli were still unable to finish in the Champions League spots, missing out on the final day. Mauricio Pochettino is apparently ready to offload Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor, and wants Callejon to partner Harry Kane in attack. Spurs had also looked at Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a possible striker option.
