I'm still trying to figure out the excitement level for his return. Not many people were clamoring for the return of Andrei Arlovski. He was doing well fighting for various promotions, since being released from Strikeforce. Still the top-level competition was lacking in these promotions, besides his one fight against Anthony Johnson. He lost that fight and had his jaw broken in the process. I'm skeptical of Arlovski's return, but the heavyweight division is severely lacking of notable names. That makes his return understandable and hopefully enjoyable for everyone. The lack of heavyweight fights in 2014, due to the severe lack of depth has been disheartening. Arlovski coming in finally gives Brendan Schaub a much-needed opponent. Arlovski has a strong fan base, along with the unique look. I'm sure most fans are intrigued to see what he has left. This isn't a Tim Sylvia situation, where you know the fighter is clearly finished. It seemed that Arlovski's days of fighting top-level competition was over after Sergei Khartionov knocked him out. After a 6-1-1 record following that brutalizing loss, it wasn't as asinine to think he could possibly come back to the UFC. Schaub will prove to be a difficult test, who is arguably the best athlete in the heavyweight division. He's extremely well-conditioned and has become more well-rounded following his dedication to Jiu-Jitsu. Arlovski's return fight should turn into a barnburner in a matter of seconds.
