UFC 174: 10 Things To Look Forward To

5. Brendan Schaub's Continued Rejuvenation In The UFC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfMohMfV-QM The UFC on FOX youtube channel posted a fantastic video of Brendan Schaub's life changes. After being knocked out in the first round in two consecutive fights, Schaub's career was at a major cross roads. People had begun to question his ability to take a punch, along with his status as a heavyweight. Schaub even considered cutting down to 205 following his loss to Ben Rothwell. He decided not to go through with it and relocated to training in California. That has led him to winning his last two fights in convincing fashion against Lavar Johnson and Matt Mitrione. We've seen him showcase his ground game more in recent fights as well. Now he's looking to submit his opponents, which he successfully did against Mitrione. Schaub is riding momentum and fans are starting to believe in him once again. While this isn't the step up in competition that was expected for him, it's important to stay active. Schaub took no damage in his past victory, so he's had plenty of time to rest and work on new techniques. His fan base has also grown from his weekly podcast with comedian Bryan Callen. People may criticize this card for the lack of prominent names, but I'm positive that they're amped up for this fight to take place.
