UFC 195 Results: 7 Things We Learned From Lawler Vs Condit

4. Robbie Lawler Is The Most Exciting Male Champ Since Chuck Liddell

He may not be the biggest star in the company, or even in the top five, but when it comes to his performances inside the octagon there aren't many men - past or present - who've put together as exciting a string of fights as the current welterweight king of the mountain. When Robbie Lawler's name is on a card, you're guaranteed to see a fight where at least one of the competitors leaves his heart and soul in the cage. The UFC is currently devoid of star power at the top of their divisions. Among their current ten champions, only Conor McGregor can truly be considered a top draw. Other huge names like Ronda Rousey, Georges St. Pierre, Anderson Silva and Jon Jones have been replaced with champs who barely move the needle comparatively and the promotion has suffered for it. While the aforementioned Jones, Silva and GSP were extremely dominant during their title reigns, they weren't always putting on the most thrilling bouts, but Lawler is the exact opposite. Practically every fight he's been a part of in the last five years has been a barn burner, and his recent UFC run is stacked full of incredible showings. Not since the heyday of "The Iceman" have we been blessed with a champion who has brought so much excitement to their title fights. I'll add the caveat that his run hasn't been nearly as lengthy as some of the men I've compared him to, but should be hold onto the belt for a while I have the utmost confidence that the streak of exciting performances will continue. I just don't think "Ruthless" has it in him to do things any differently.
