UFC Fight Night 44: Matches To Make For The Winners

Ricardo Lamas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okw93SUb2Xc What do you do with a guy who just lost to the champion, and who no one is really talking about in terms of re-match? Does he try a weight class change? He looks too good at featherweight, so that might be out. The best thing for Lamas is an Aldo loss. Until then he's just stuck in top 10 purgatory, playing gatekeeper. There is someone who would make a great opponent for Lamas, however: Frankie Edgar. Edgar is coming off a win over Charles Oliveira, and faces B.J. Penn for the third time this weekend. Win or lose, he's a name. If he beats Penn then Lamas, he might earn himself a second shot at Jose Aldo, assuming Aldo beats Mendes in August. If Lamas wins, he has a signature win on his resume, having defeated a pound-for-pound best. And the fans win big too. Of course, if Mendes wins in August, all hell breaks loose.
