World Cup 2014: 5 Things You Need To Know About Next Summer's Tournament

5. When's The Group Stage Draw?

The qualifying stages are finally over, and England have confirmed their passage to Brazil. But what next? First, there is the small matter of the play-offs to take into account next month, before the group stage draw for the 2014 World Cup commences on December 6 live from Bahia, Brazil. Will the draw be favourable to England, or will we end up in that unenvied "Group of Death"? Well, sadly, it will most likely be the latter, because the Three Lions are currently 17th in the FIFA World rankings, meaning we're not going to be seeded. There will be four pots of eight teams in the draw, one containing hosts Brazil and the others the top seven qualifiers from the aforementioned rankings. These are Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Colombia, Belgium and Uruguay, one of which will likely end up in England's group when the draw is made later this year.
