World Cup 2018: 10 Players Who Don't Deserve To Be Going Home

4. Hannes Halldórsson

One of only two goalkeepers to win a Man of the Match award during the 2018 World Cup group stages, Hannes Halldórsson will know that his displays at this tournament were more than good enough to warrant a spot in the latter stages. Sadly, he'll be heading home with the rest of the Iceland squad, but has definitely give his reputation a big boost after a really impressive tournament.

Halldórsson, who doubles as a filmmaker when he's not on the pitch, plays his football with Randers FC, a Danish team, but could earn a move to a more high profile side in the future after pulling off some fantastic saves in recent days. His most notable moment during Iceland's World Cup campaign came in their opening match with Argentina. The South American side were awarded a penalty and Lionel Messi stepped up to take it.

Messi has been criticised for his spot kick, but it was struck with a good amount of power and many keepers wouldn't have saved it. Halldórsson did, reacting smartly and quickly, leaping to his right and punching the ball away. The 34-year-old made several other key saves throughout that game and in Iceland's other matches as they crashed out with just one point.
