Star Trek: 10 Times Opening Credits Spoiled The Surprise

5. Jeri Ryan - Absolute Candor

The first trailer for Star Trek: Picard contained several big reveals.- that was a heck of a Borg Cube, wasn't it? Perhaps the biggest shock was the arrival of Jeri Ryan's Seven-of-Nine, asking Picard what he meant to do, out there, saving the galaxy. It was a moment that deserved the cheer that I certainly let out, so surely her appearance in the season was going to elicit the same reaction.

Well, yes and no.

The opening credits for the fourth episode of the first season, Absolute Candor, featured Jeri Ryan as a special guest star. Excellent, we thought, heading into this outing. Surely having her name so prominently placed in the credits would mean there would be plenty of time to enjoy her performance.

Act one came and went, followed swiftly by a seven-less act two. Acts three and four were also devoid of our favourite former drone, so a slight frustration started to build. Was it a mistake? Had they simply added her name an episode too early? Where was the - wait, what was that? Rewind for a moment.

There, right at the very end, for about three seconds, stands Seven in all of her glory. Cut to black. It was a bit disorienting as we had spent so long waiting for her to arrive, only for her to appear for less time than her name did in the credits.

Well, it was nice to see her, brief and beautiful as it was!
