10 Amazing Sci-Fi TV Shows You Need To Stop Sleeping On

4. The 100

Lost In Space
The CW

The 100 has long-been one of the most underappreciated shows on television. It probably has something to do with the fact that it airs on The CW and features a cast so good-looking that it looks like it belongs on The CW, but if we're being honest, it's probably the most non-CW show on the network.

A surprisingly mature series for the once-teen-heavy channel, it follows a group of 100 youthful prisoners sent from their home (or, well, Arc) in space to test the Earth 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse. Naturally, it plays into some of the teen conventions pretty early on but it does so effectively - and as soon as their feet hit the ground, things take a much darker turn.

The 100 has evolved over the six years that it has been on the air, changing drastically and growing up as it has gone on. The young cast have proven themselves as they've held their own in both physically challenging situations and when performing alongside veterans like the brilliant Paige Turco, while the writers have tackled some refreshingly gritty storylines.

Yes, it's made mistakes along the way (including one notorious one), but it's also enjoyed a highly entertaining run. And when it bows out, it will have left behind a legacy as it successfully entertained us for seven seasons without ever feeling like a typical CW property.
