6. Adventure Time

On the subject of cartoons, there hasn't been an ostensibly children's-oriented work of animation so strongly associated with the consumption of psychedelic drugs since The Magic Roundabout (although it's entirely possible the creator of Teletubbies was on something, too) - Adventure Time's lurid colours and fantastical stories certainly make it a popular show with stoner students. There's much more appeal to Adventure Time than simply its surrealistic flourishes - this another of those rare children's cartoons which just loves to throw in plenty of subversive humour which the kids are highly unlikely to get (the setting for the series itself - a post-apocalyptic world known as the "Land of Ooo" influenced by Mad Max - underscores this consideration for older viewers). Show creator Pendleton Ward has developed one of the most richly populated cartoons over the course of 6 seasons - although it should be noted that Netflix is currently only hosting the first three. With episodes running at just 11 minutes each it doesn't take long to binge-watch Adventure Time, and given how much hands-down fun it is to watch Finn and Jake going on their adventures (not to mention all the meta references guaranteed to challenge the most eagle-eyed culture vultures) the show can't come more highly recommended.
