10 Awesome TV Shows Still To Return In 2016
5. Arrow
Arrow has taken a major step backwards in the last couple of years. The first couple of seasons were great examples of how to do superhero TV, with the ferocious Season 2 a particular highlight that stands among the best the genre has to offer. However, the show went into a downward spiral in Season 3, and it hasn't managed to pull itself out.
Season 5 is aiming to do exactly that, with a 'back to basics' approach. It's a nice idea on paper, and the early talk has been very promising: no magic, just getting back to grounded, kick-ass fight scenes with a troubled protagonist, and a focus on cleaning up the streets of Star City.
The new season will bring some changes, with Team Arrow largely broken up at the outset and Oliver trying to balance being a vigilante with his role as Mayor. We're finally getting the Bratva flashbacks too, which should hopefully give them some real purpose, and the overall theme of the season is 'legacy', so it's going to be connecting back to the start of the show - that's probably the best place for it to be right now.
Air Date: October 5.
