9. Highlander: The Series
An alternate sequel to the 1986 feature film of the same name, Highlander: The Series features Duncan MacLeod of the Scottish Clan MacLeod, as the eponymous "Highlander" - an Immortal being who was born in the Scottish Highlands in 1592 and has lived for nearly 400 years.
Duncan finds himself caught up in the events of 'The Game' - the term used by the Immortals to describe their hunting of one another, seeking "Quickenings" by beheading their opponents. The series showed Duncan's relationships and conflicts with these other beings, as well as his battles against other supernatural phenomena and demons, including the secretive Watchers.
In contrast to the original film, which had mixed reviews on its initial release, the TV show was an international hit and won various awards during its six-season run in the 1990s. The success of the show even led to a female-led spin-off, The Raven, which was unfortuantely more short-lived.
