10 Best Superhero TV Shows Of 2018 (So Far)

5. Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones Season 2
Netflix

After the resounding success of Daredevil, many of us wondered if Jessica Jones would be a worthy spinoff. But when the show's first season hit Netflix back in 2015, it received universal acclaim from fans and critics — with many believing that it was even better than its parent show. With its stylistically noir tone and gritty themes, it told a harsh but realistic story about an enticing antihero that was desperate to overcome the deadly Kilgrave. Both Krysten Ritter and David Tennant delivered award-worthy performances in their respective roles as the protagonist and antagonist, capping off what was truly a remarkable season. And it left us wondering if Season 2 would be a worthy follow-up.

While it may not be quite as gripping as the first season, Season 2 offers yet another alluring tale. Without Tennant, it was already at a disadvantage as nothing was going to compare to Kilgrave. However, it held its own and provided us with a new, intriguing story. Like with most Marvel shows, it began to drag midway through the season, but it did reign things back in as it headed towards its finale.

While it wasn't quite as strong as its flawless predecessor, it was still another incredibly complex, well-written and compelling outing that was once again anchored by a strong performance from Ritter. And after a few less-than-stellar installments, it finally feels like Marvel's Netflix universe is back on track.
