10 Big Finish Doctor Who Moments We Wish We Saw On-Screen

1. Seeing The Eighth Doctor’s Adventures

The biggest shame in Doctor Who was the fact that Paul McGann only got the TV Movie and a 'minisode'. However, at Big Finish, the Eighth Doctor has travelled with Charley Pollard, journeyed into the Divergent Universe, travelled with Lucie Miller, faced the Dalek Time Controller, Eminence, Doom Coalition, and the Ravenous. He is about to start the 'Stranded' storyline, whilst also avoiding the Time War.

The McGann Big Finish era has such a range of storytelling. His original adventures with Charley, and the following range of stories with Lucie Miller, are similar to New Who, with a series of standalone stories, all building arcs and plot threads. His stories have now developed into four volume boxset series, covering ‘Dark Eyes’, ‘Doom Coalition’, ‘Ravenous’, ‘Stranded’, and ‘The Time War’. Any Eighth Doctor story would be a delight to be seen on screen.

In the TV Movie, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Paul McGann’s part in the role, the biggest let down for him being the script not allowing him to fully flex his acting talents. We see a charming man, who is full of energy, but has that hint of darkness every Doctor need.

Any Eighth Doctor audio would be a joy to see on-screen. However, a specific moment that would work well on screen is the Dark Eyes era of the Eighth Doctor adventures, making a perfect mini-series to give fans more of the Eighth Doctor onscreen. Following the Eighth Doctor meet his new companion Molly, fight the Dalek Time Controller and save the universe. From the front lines of World War One to far off alien worlds, Dark Eyes makes the perfect Doctor Who story.

McGann is marvellous in the role and it’s such a shame that we didn't see more.
