10 Biggest Rick & Morty Controversies
4. Dan Harmon's Baby Doll Video
After James Gunn was let go from Marvel due to inappropriate jokes made years before, the bandwagon turned to Dan Harmon as their next target. They had discovered Channel 101, a non-profit film festival founded by Harmon and comedian Rob Schrab.
The festival showcases a series of 5-minute polit episodes which are put to vote to see which can continue as a series on the website. Throughout the years, it has hosted countless big names such as The Lonely Island, Jack Black and Tommy Wiseau but it was a particular polit by Harmon that caught their attention.
In 2009, Harmon had created a short that was intended to be a parody of Dexter. The episode featured a scene where Harmon takes a baby doll and proceeds to rub his genitals on it. Despite its problematic visuals, the show managed to feature on the Channel 101 website and Harmon created a second, less questionable episode.
Fast forward almost a decade and the video resurface, quickly turning viral. The backlash caused Harmon to delete his Twitter account and issued an apology. Having just renewed Rick and Morty for a huge seventy episodes, Adult Swim were quick to distance themselves from the video and also issued an apology.
