6. Heroes for Hire, Luke Cage & Iron Fist
Before it was confirmed that the TV series being produced by Marvel was to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. series, many people were hoping that the series might focus on Heroes for Hire. Heroes for Hire was a small business providing professional investigation and protection services owned by two superheroes, Luke Cage and Daniel Rand (better known as Iron Fist). Since the humble beginnings, many other heroes have been hired for various missions including The Punisher, Moon Knight and even the Avengers Black Widow and The Hulk. Luke Cage is a superhero born and raised in Harlem. His powers of superhuman strength and durability and resistance to physical injury came from being experimented on during his time in prison for a crime he was framed for. After his escape from prison, he decided to use his powers as a hero for hire. Iron Fist is the son of a wealthy New York businessman. His martial arts training and ability to focus and summon chi came from his time training in the hidden mystical city of Kun-Lun discovered by his father. The motivation for his training was to avenge the murderer of his father by a business associate, but when Iron Fist came face to face with his fathers killer, he felt pity on him. Working as a superhero he crossed paths with Luke Cage and helped him clear his name. They then decided to become partners. The differing backgrounds, powers and personalities of Luke Cage and Iron Fist make for some interesting stories and team dynamics, not to mention what happens when other heroes are brought in for specific tasks. The buddy heroes would make a great TV show in their own right, but they would also be a great addition to the S.H.I.E.L.D. series.
