10 Cancelled Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series That Deserved Better
2. Sense8
With a fanbase so loving that it got a proper finale after cancellation, Sense8 was a remarkable feat of sci-fi storytelling, following a multinational cast who form a psychic connection, people known as "sensates" becoming connected mentally and emotionally, able to pass skills and knowledge along to each other.
The series by famed Wachowski sisters explored what many shows didn't at the time: themes of gender, sex (including an infamous orgy between the eight main sensates) and sexuality, religion and culture, and inter-personal relationships.
For a series that involved a lot of life-threatening situations, some of the sensates having more dangerous lives than others (though all of them were under threat by a man called Whispers, who hunts sensates down), there are remarkably sweet moments present with all the sensates becoming emotionally invested in each other - one such moment being the feel-good sing-along to What's Going On by the 4 Non Blondes, as well as the loving tribute to fans that was the series finale.
Though stakes were still high by the time the cancellation came, the fans at least got a decent sendoff by popular demand. Still, the series deserved more time to tell its compelling, exciting story.
