10 Coolest Swords In Anime

7. Mugen (D. Gray Man)

Dracule Mihawk
TV Tokyo

D. Gray Man isn't the most well known shonen anime out there, and that's a real shame, because Mugen is just one of the many creative and interesting ideas at play in its gothic story.

Mugen is the weapon of obligatory grumpy sword boy, Yu Kanda. What sets it apart from its peers at the time are, of course, its powers. Like every weapon in D. Gray Man, Mugen is powered by a magic known simply as "innocence". Innocence gives its wielders unique powers specific to their personality or background. In Kanda's case, it creates illusions that become real. This includes creating a swarm of insects that devour his enemies, making two swords instead of one, and moving at blinding speed at the cost of some of his lifespan.

Because Kanda isn't the main character, Mugen hasn't been that thoroughly explored in terms of what it can do. Kanda is pretty content with the powers Mugen gives him as is, and with a weapon as powerful as the Mugen, who could blame him?
