10 Crazy Characters You Forgot Existed In Stargate

2. Kheb Monk

One of the early mysteries of Stargate was the identity and nature of the Harcesis child - the child of Apophis and Amaunet. This child was said to have all of the knowledge of the Goa'uld, thereby posing an enormous security risk should they fall into the hands of the enemies of the Goa'uld.

The Harcesis child was kept on Kheb, a planet on which there lived a single monk (guest star Terry Chen.) This monk practiced what Daniel Jackson recognised as a form of Zen-Buddhism. The monk attempted to show Jackson, through speaking in symbolism and metaphor, what he needed to know about the child.

Unfortunately for them all, Apophis was approaching, having regained much of his former power by annexing the forces of Sokar. SG-1 and the Monk worked at the pace of Oma de Sala, the ascended being who kept the child safe.

The Monk faces the forces of Apophis without fear, despite the warnings of SG-1. To them, it is unsurprising when he is shot and killed by a Jaffa. What is far more surprising is that, within moments, he ascends into the next stage of being. To him, the squabbles of humans and Jaffa have little meaning.

The child is kept safe and the greater mystery of the Ancients' ascension is introduced.
