10 DC Villains To Watch Out For In 2019 On Film & TV

4. Bane - Gotham

Love it or hate it, there's no denying Gotham has taken a unique - shall we say - approach to the DC Universe since its 2014 premiere. Villains have been completely reimagined, and we've seen Bruce Wayne encounter some of his most legendary villains at the tender age of 14. For some Bat-fans these deviations are a little too much to take, but some have actually grown to enjoy its silliness, even if it ends up in complete tonal dissonance.

This brings us to Bane, who will be joining the likes of Joker (sorry, Jerome), Riddler and Penguin with a drastic makeover. Instead of hailing from the island of Santa Prisca, this version of the character will be a veteran who served alongside Jim Gordon back in the character's army days, who returns to Gotham to get up to some evil antics.

As you can see, the character doesn't look anything like the one featured in Batman's comics, with the producers having seemingly elected to borrow elements from the design featured in The Dark Knight Rises, along with a few other random inspirations. It's to be expected though, and with Gotham set to conclude sometime next year, the presence of Bane is sure to shake things up.
