Should such a thing exist as a Doctor Who-based polling station, and the assembled throng are there looking for a good all-rounder for whom to cast their vote, the biggest pile of slips could well amass for Ian Chesterton. An idealist but also a natural leader, he's almost the dream ticket for an election victory. He has the mind of Ken Barlow and the passion of Richard the Lionheart. He's as British as a pasty on top of the Crown Jewels. His background is in education, so that would be top of his list of priorities.
