10 Doctor Who Storylines That Were Suddenly Abandoned
7. The Doctor Destroying Skaro
One of the darkest acts ever committed by the Doctor was the callous destruction of Skaro at his hands in the brilliant Remembrance Of The Daleks. The conflict between the Doctor and the villainous pepperpots goes back to his second adventure and in many ways this was the climactic end-game between him and Davros, the evil creator of the Daleks. And yet Skaro is very much in existence in Series seven / 33's Asylum Of The Daleks and in all the many references and glimpses of the Time War the Doctor's genocidal actions against the home planet of the Daleks is never mentioned. There has been a lot of superstition as to how the Time War between the Daleks and Timelords began. Surely this - along with the pre-emptive strike against Davros in Genesis Of The Daleks - was one of the major events that kick started it all. With the new direction the show has taken since the 50th special Day Of The Doctor, it is unlikely the Time War will be revisited in any great detail. The Doctor's destruction of Skaro will likely remain one of those unresolved plot points.
