10 Failed Comic Book TV Projects That Would Be Awesome Now

CW have enjoyed huge success adapting lesser known DC properties for the small screen. Who would have thought that Green Arrow would become one of the most popular heroes on TV or that Firestorm would even be given a shot as a supporting character? However, what's most surprising is that before either Arrow or The Flash were given their own shows, CW considered taking a chance on the paranormal hero Deadman.

Unlike most superheroes, the story of Deadman bizarrely starts with his own death. After his murder, circus performer Boston Brand gains the ability to possess the living, using them as tools to solve the mystery of his own death while helping others in need.

Deadman's story would be a perfect fit for TV. Each week, Brand could help solve a different murder a la iZombie, while the overarching story concerns the investigation behind Deadman's untimely death. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke seems to think so too, as he's repeatedly worked hard to bring Brand's tale to the small screen, with no success so far.

Audiences are now far more receptive to comic book properties that don't star the biggest names in the superhero business and CW could easily test the waters with a Deadman cameo in any of their popular shows first. Watch this space.
