10 Female Actors Who Would Have Been A Better Doctor Who

4. Lena Headey

Doctor Who
Lionsgate

After her phenomenal efforts in the role of Cersei, Headey's transformation from ultimate villain to ultimate hero would be great to see. Headey's ability to dominate every scene was crucial to Game of Thrones success, a command and authority like none other we'd seen on the small screen before. It's salivating to think how this would have been displayed by Headey's Doctor incarnation, especially alongside companions with differing viewpoints.

Headey would also be more than capable of bringing to life the lighter side of The Doctor without losing her hefty presence. Her parodying of Game of Thrones for a number of Late night television skits was hilarious, and while her delivery may be a little darker than previous Doctors, it's at least better than the light hearted fluff presented by Whittaker.

Unlike others on this list, Headey didn't appear to be overly weighed down with offers to refute an offer as the new Doctor. Her role in the last Thrones season was strangely minimal, so it wouldn't have been hard for BBC to fit the scheduling of the show around her, and her pay demands would have been reasonable. It's fair to say publicity and hype would not have been a concern for the new series with Headey in the role.
