10 Female Actors Who Would Have Been A Better Doctor Who

2. Jo Martin

Never has one episode said so much as the fifth episode of the current series, Fugitive of the Judoon. While Whittaker struggled once more to create a believable and likeable interpretation of the Timelord to screen, Martin smashed it out of the park in a brief stint as The Doctor. Martin commanded the screen, using actions rather than words to bring our hero to life.

There was also a noticeable edginess to her interpretation, a feeling that she was not someone to be trifled with. Martin is also a far more physically intimidating presence than Whittaker that is far more suited for the Doctor, and casting a female who doesn't fit the 'Hollywood formula' slim build would have been great to see.

In fairness to Whittaker, a number of her issues stems from the poor scriptwriting, and there's no saying that Martin's Doctor wouldn't have been bogged down by the same problems. Sadly, the fact that she was a black actor would have been music to the ears of anti-wokers, who would have been able to complain about the decision to cast Martin to any sad soul who would listen. But one feels that Martin would have overcome all this and been a great choice for the role.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
