10 Groundbreaking TV Shows That Were Cancelled Too Soon

7. Veronica Mars

Boy oh boy, does this one still hurt. Ending after a 3 season run, with the third season being of poorer quality that its predecessors, Veronica Mars was everything you could ask of a television program. Terrific cast, brilliant script, consistently high quality, it had it all. Kristen Bell herself was brilliant as the titular protagonist, capturing all of her strengths and flaws, her wit and charm, while at the end of the day reminding us that she was just a teenage girl. The first season in particular stands as one of the finest of any show I have ever seen. While there have been rumors floating around the internet for a while concerning a potential film, it doesn't seem like it will or could work. Season three saw the cast beginning college in their town of Neptune, and instead of following the trend of a season-long mystery, it was divided into 3 smaller cases, with the serial nature of the done-in-one episodes still left intact. However, while still entertaining, it lacked the drive and brilliant pacing of the earlier seasons, as well as the emotional and personal touch that made seasons 1 and 2 so enjoyable. Despite this, the show was still amongst the finest crime shows ever produced, and 3 seasons was an all too enticing tease at what could of been.
