10 Mind Blowing Pop Culture References in Community

5. Die Hard, Star Wars, A Fistful of Dollars/For a Few Dollars More

Season 1 Episode 23 €“ €œModern Warfare€ Season 2 Episode 23 €“ €œA Fistful of Paintballs€ Season 2 Episode 24 €“ €œFor a Few Paintballs More€ I grouped these three episodes together because they all share one thing in common: paintball! Most Community fans will say that the first paintball episode at the end of season one, Modern Warfare, is when the show really started taking shape into the pop culture referencing monster that it is today. After waking up from a nap in his car, Jeff walks into a deserted Greendale campus that is covered in paint. A war had broken out when Dean Pelton told the students that the last one standing without paint on them would win priority registration. At one point, the Dean even asks Chang to win the contest so no one gets priority registration. What follows is homage to great action movies including The Warriors and Die Hard. The title is a reference to the video game franchise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The next season also featured a paintball war two-part finale. The first episode referenced classic Clint Eastwood westerns, while the second was a Star Wars themed episode. With references from a paintball gun taped behind the Jeff€™s back (Die Hard) and Abed taking on the role of Han Solo (Star Wars), it was Community at its finest.

After going back in time and successfully taking down the Empire whilst rescuing the Ark of the Covenant from the hands of the Nazis. I decided to hang up my blaster, bull whip, and Tardis to live a less exciting life as a student of History and Radio/Television/Film at Rowan University.
