10 More Non-Superhero Comic Series That Would Make Great TV Shows

8. Scalped

Genre: Gritty Crime Drama What it is: Scalped is a crime drama written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by R. M. Guéra, set on the Prairie Rose Indian reservation of the Oglala Lakota tribe in South Dakota. The series follows main protagonist undercover FBI Agent Dashiell Bad Horse, as he grapples with organized crime, poverty, local politics, and the preservation of his tribe€™s cultural identity. Why it would be great: People love crime dramas with a different spin. Just look at series like Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, The Borgias, Breaking Bad, and Boardwalk Empire. These are some of the most popular shows in recent years, and all of them are basic crime dramas, but with a twist, whether it€™s their time period, setting, or in Dexter€™s case the good guy being the bad guy. Wit sixty issues to draw inspiration and stories from, this could easily go for six seasons or more, if proven popular enough. And with great characters such as Dashiell Bad Horse, who constantly wrestles with his dual lives; Chief Lincoln Red Crow, a casino magnate/mob boss; Gina Bad Horse, Dash€™s estranged mother; and Officer Franklin Falls Down, the only straight cop on the reservation; I think people would want to visit "The Rez" week after week. With action, intrigue, romance, organized crime, secrets, and blinding violence, viewers would lose their heads over Scalped.
