10 Most Hated Classic Doctor Who Episodes

6. Time And The Rani

Time and the Rani has had something of a renaissance in recent years. It's got some genuinely impressive visual effects for the time, and Kate O'Mara is utterly fabulous as the Rani.

However, it also has a lot of needlessly overwritten dialogue, and McCoy hasn't quite found his feet as the Doctor. Older fans hated Time and the Rani because, after the show came perilously close to cancellation in the previous season, it seemed that Doctor Who hadn't learned its lesson.

The McCoy era would improve considerably, and some of his stories are among the best that the show has ever produced. However, the scars of those fans who saw Time and the Rani on broadcast haven't quite healed, despite how the show's fortunes have improved considerably in recent years.

Now that Doctor Who is a smash-hit show with a Disney+ distribution deal, fans can relax a little and enjoy Time and the Rani for what it is - a daft, campy adventure in a quarry. Which, if we're honest, is what Doctor Who mostly is.
