10 Most Shocking Moments In Squid Game
5. Ji-Yeong Drops Her Marble
Something that Squid Game handles incredibly well is the balance between full-on terror and wholesomeness. There are plenty of characters who seem like a bright spot in the dark show, and this makes it easy to fall for them. But, of course, it never ends well.
Episode six is an absolute killer of an episode. It breaks your heart non-stop, and this moment is one of the most gut-wrenching. After pairing herself with Sae-Byeok, Ji-Yeong decides to take the time to get to know her partner, planning to determine the winner at the end of their time.
After chatting for a while and forming a bond, they decide to play their game by throwing one marble each and seeing who gets closest to the wall. But, in a surprising turn, Ji-Yeong deliberately drops her marble, essentially forcing the win on Sae-Byeok and sacrificing her life for her new friend.
It's heartbreaking as this seems to be the first person Sae-Byeok has ever opened up to, and it hits you right in the heart when she thanks her for playing and finally takes a bullet to the head.
