2. Growth Of The Rebellion
By the time of A New Hope, the Rebellion is established and the Empire's power begins to be threatened. But not in Rebels. Whilst the Rebellion grows over the course of the series, they are no where near the unity that they are in the original trilogy.
Rebels takes the logical approach of having the Rebellion grow from different cells across the galaxy, with our main Ghost crew being one such cell.
During the first season, under the guidance of Fulcrum, the Ghost crew undergo missions for what will become the rebellion. In the second, they join forces with a growing rebel fleet, in search of a base. Season three sees the group become more grounded, as The Phoenix Cell becomes at home on Chopper Base.
Season three also sees the greatest movement for the Rebel Alliance as Mon Mothma deposes The Emperor and the Alliance starts to formalise. By the fourth season, the cells have come together and the Alliance is together, on the familiar Yavin 4.
Rebels also shows the introduction for many other classic characters, such as Wedge Antillies and even Princess Leia's early experiences with the Rebellion.
Rebels is a really satisfying story to follow, seeing the growth of the Ghost crew, into Phoenix Cell and then their joining the greater Alliance. When looked upon as a whole, the growth of this story isn't forced and makes sense in narrative terms. This growth also adds to our final point...
