10 Reasons Why Glee Is Failing

5. The Split Narrative

glee_404_performance_the_scientist_tagged_640x360_1739331512 (1) It sounded like an ingenious idea at the outset... well, mostly. But the execution has been rather shoddy to say the least. Glee has far too many characters and by trying to include them all, some of the key characters are being sidelined altogether. The writers are lucky they decided to split the school year between seasons four and five. If season four ended with another graduation, they may as well have written out the McKinley setting, as these new characters have such one dimensional personalities and we haven€™t been given a reason to care for them. Also, everyone now seems destined to end up in New York. There are fifty states in America, not two. The show may as well relocate as a whole. Glee was always going to be restricted by its time frame, being that it€™s set in a high school. Therefore, it would have to refresh its cast every couple of seasons. As a result, the show is trying to follow the graduates, the seniors and the juniors. If Artie graduated at the end of season four, that would have been a travesty given how little he€™s done in his €˜defining€™ year at school.
