10 Reasons Why The Boys Was Better As A TV Series

4. The Deep's Storyline Is Fascinating

Every so often in fiction, there's a character who starts off as a completely unlikable turd. Just the absolute worst, either by their attitude or their actions, but as time goes on, they start to become oddly likeable as they realise that they are, in fact, a turd and decide to flush themselves better.

Following in the footsteps of Jaime Lannister before him, The Deep is one of these characters. Starting his story sexually assaulting Starlight, his eventual comeuppance is one of the more satisfying moments in the series. However, the hits just keep on coming, and after a particularly harrowing scene involving his gills, you begin to feel genuinely bad for The Deep.

In addition, he shows hints of a, somewhat-buried, kind nature, as he genuinely cares for his aquatic friends, trying to save a dolphin and a lobster with tragic, violent results. You begin to get the feeling that before the fame went to his head, The Deep may have been a good, if stupid man.

In the comics, The Deep is one the less evil members of the Seven (but don't get it twisted, he's still a very bad man), and one of the more mature members of the group, which actually may be the exact opposite of the show Deep.
